Project 365 - Week 1

Photography is relatively new to me and since both my blogs rely heavily on photos I need to improve my skills. Heck I don't even know what aperture's that bad.

I try, I really do. I visit local camera stores and ask questions. I regularly visit photography blogs. I cruise Amazon reading all the camera reviews. But all this knowledge becomes one big blur and nothing seems to sink it.

And since I have two new cameras and don't have a clue how to use them I need motivation. So I've joined Project 365 where we challenge ourselves to take a photo a day for 365 days. Now you may think this is huge challenge and it is. But I already take more then one photo a day. I take at least fifty photos a week for just my food blog. But I never challenge myself to try new things, which means I'm not learning and herein is the problem.

I've thought long and hard about my goals for this Project. I could list lots of interesting things like exploring the macro lens or light reflections on water but I would fail miserably. So I've decided since I'm so confused by just photography terminology I need to keep it simple! Believe me just reading my Camera Manuals is huge for me!

And I already learned a little bit! See my Project 365 Badge, well I made it. Designing is not a problem for me, I've designed logos for years but not on a computer which is a whole different ball game!

BBD's Project 365 Goals:

1. Read my Camera Manuals.
2. Publish at least 7 photos a week under my blog label Project 365.
3. Take my camera with me every time I walk out the door of my home.

Week 1 of BBD's Project 365:

If you are interested in photography there are two groups on Flickr that you might consider joining, Project 365 Flickr Group and Project 365 Food Bloggers Group

I would say you are to a grand start. I need to get a new camera...but alas, sometimes you have to choose between two would like to haves...and one has to lose out...LOL

So I will come here and live vicariously through your year in picturesque submissions :)

You are off to a good start Michelle. I can see how thick that horses coat has gotten. The first one of the spreading tree is really pretty too.

That first photo of the snowy tree with the fence in the background is breathtaking... very nice! 365 sounds like a great challenge. I too find the manuals difficulto understand. Maybe I should consider tackling my own camera this year... it is a nice one and $$$ to boot!

That is a great project. I just don't own a camera that would qualify for such an adventure. I am dreaming of a D40 Nikon daily.
haha. You take awesome photos. I am looking forward to following your blogs this year. Glad I found you in '09.

I wish you well my friend!!

Just actually taking the pictures for postings all on my own, has become my photo challenge. I was never that good at taking pictures. And then Brian bought a (to me) fancy camera, and like oh so many other pieces of 'equipment', I am always scared of somehow really messing things up ....

Like the time I more than drained the battery becuse I had unplugged the camera from my sons computer to use it, and did so, having not a clue that he had some setting set for automaticlly downloading shots onto his extra hard drive ... thankfully Brian was extremely compasionate about the whole thing and is slowely and lovingly showing me where 'knobs' (;-p) should be set for different type of functions and occasions ....

The good thing is, I'd really like to lean how and then use it more ... so that is my very basic photo challenge this year.
